It’s not a secret that diversity and inclusion are big topics for businesses at the moment. Organisations are scrambling to attract a diverse range of employees, customers and services. With the recent rise of prominent companies such as Google, Facebook and even Nasa striving to attract a more diverse staff, it seems like Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) representation is on the rise.

But what is still lacking is the representation of BAME in senior management positions. According to the UK Census, Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people make up 11% of the population here in the UK, yet only 2% of those make it into senior management.

The reason behind this is systemic racism. The lack of BAME representation across industries is due to systemic racism that we face in hiring processes, education systems or even networking events.
